Twycross Zoo
I visited Twycross Zoo during the half term to get photos of animals to draw from. Overall, not a lot of my photos were very good because most of the animals were behind glass or fences. Because of this, i took a lot of videos which seemed to work better.

Artists
Liam James Cross
I couldn't find much information about this artist because he isn't a very big artist but I love his use of watercolour and pen/pencil. I prefer drawing figuratively so I think this fits my style.

Sarah Watson
The way that Sarah draws is very different to what i'd normally like but i love how simplistic yet detailed her drawings are.
Sarah is inspired by what emotion she is in at the time and looks at creating marks inspired by the outside world. She paints a lot of landscapes that lean to abstraction but her other passion is animal portraiture which is what i'm looking at.
Uno Hoffmann
I wanted to look at an abstract artist because its not normally something i would even think about. I want to push myself and look at thinks I've never done before. I'd like to experiment with the way he makes marks and collages photos and materials.
Uno studied architecture and i think that comes through in some of his pieces, he often uses straight lines and geometric shapes.

Drawing On Coffee
I really enjoyed the technique of drawing over coffee, I can see it as something i'll use in the future.
It gives the drawings more contrast and interest. It also makes them look more three dimensional.
Creating Movement
I thought this technique was interesting however i don't think i executed it as well as i could of. I thing the drawing overall looks a bit confusing. It was more difficult to draw than i thought it would be because i couldn't see where all the lines should be.
Creating Contrast
In my free time i worked on building more contrast in my pencil drawings because i felt that a lot of my drawings didn't have enough tone/contrast. I think these drawings were successful in achieving that.
Abstract Piece
I enjoyed creating this piece a lot more than I thought I would. It made me think a lot about being less figurative and worrying less about if something looks perfect.

Who am I?
My favourite thing is my dog Archie. He's an 11 year old schnauzer. Other than dogs, I really like horses. I've been horse riding for 8 years but still don't have my own horse.
Something else I'm really into is video games. Mainly on the computer. My favourite games of all time is Pokemon and my favourite games right now is Bioshock Infinite. I play games like Portal 2 and Left for Dead 2 with my boyfriend. I also play a game called civilisation 5 with all of my friends.
I also love movies, I absolutely love Disney movies and one of my favourites would have to be Brother Bear. I've been obsessed with Disney since a very young age as my mum also loves Disney. I've been to Disney world Orlando two times with my family and it's by far my favourite holiday. I also love Studio Ghibli, my favourite movie being Spirited away. I love Studio Ghibli for its Japanese art style.
I've been drawing shells because I love going to the beach. When I'm on holiday in collect interesting shells with my family. I also used to own a giant African land snail so the different patterns and shapes of snail shells facinate me.

Using different mediums
I really liked incorporating newspaper into my drawings. I think it adds a lot of interest to my drawings and creates more contrast. I don't really like how graphite looks on newspaper but it might work in another drawing.

Art Trip
I really enjoyed the trip to the museums, I found that I was most interested in natural history than anything else and was really fascinated about the different dinosaurs and insects they had. I didn't find much i was interested in in the Ashmolean museum so i was quite disappointed about going there.
The trip made me think about who i am and what i'm interested in and I've found i'm definitely more interested in animals than anything else. I also realised i'm interested in insects and shells which i didn't know before.

Photos

I took this photo because of the pattern on the peacock's feathers.
Surprisingly, I enjoyed looking at all the different insects. I think it could be interesting to draw some of them as they all have a lot of varying textures.

This was one of my favourite photos (Minus the small child) I think the textures of the scales and the teeth could be useful in future drawings.
The dinosaurs were by far my favourite part of the trip, I've loved dinosaurs from a very young age and have never really had a chance to see what they might look like in person.
I thought these four photos had really interesting textures that i could use.
All of the different types of shells interested me, I really liked how they had different patterns and textures and how the were all different shapes.

I found a collection of old saddles, this really interested me as i am a horse rider and it was cool to see how the saddle has evolved.

There was some jewelry that I found that used natural objects like shells, jewelry doesn't interest me but some of the things that were used for jewelry I thought was quite creative.
My Drawings
I don't like how this drawing turned out. This is the only one where i drew from a photo and not from real life so i couldn't see all the detail i needed.
I drew this because of the interesting pattern on it.
My two favourite drawings are these shells, I think this is because these were the things i found the most interesting.
I drew this because of the shape and although its far from perfect, it was still an interesting thing to draw.
This was one of the things that interested me most from the Pitt Rivers part of the museum. I think this is because it looks like and elephant.
