First Week Reflective Diary

My induction task helped me find styles of art I enjoy and made me think about what sort of things I enjoy drawing. I started off by drawing a lot of portraits of people but then also drew pictures of animals which I found I enjoyed a lot more. If I were to continue to develop my induction task I would venture into drawing different types of animals instead of portraits and I’d like to continue mixing realism with a cartoonish style as I did near the end of the task. My main inspiration has been Vince Okerman.

The course is different than what I have been used to before as I don’t have to be limited to a pencil and paint. It’s also different as instead of drawing aesthetically pleasing drawings I could now potentially make something that has more meaning behind it. I now also don’t have to be limited to carrying out my teacher’s ideas and instead can use my own ideas.

I will use my blog to upload pieces and annotate them in order to have a space where I can easily look at all of my pieces.
