Cy Twombly

Looking at Cy Twombly's art style, I like how expressive with his mark making and how he uses different layers to add more interest with his art. I also like how experimental he is with the different types of marks he makes.

Cy's inspiration comes from his home in Rome,Italy. He was inspired by Greek and Roman mythology but also graffiti on local walls. In his art he balances these different aspects together. The layers he creates represents the layers of time. His other inspirations come from poetry and this shows as he includes words and quotes in a lot of his pieces.

Experimenting with mark making

I enjoyed experimenting with marks. although i don't like the end result of my piece I still enjoyed the process of making it and it made me think about how i can use different marks to create different effects. It also made me think about how art doesn't have to be a specific drawing of something, it can be words or different marks too.
